M.Sc. Internship and thesis at the chair of Plantpathology

Ag-Stam at the chair of Phytopathology is offering the opportunity for MSc internships and theses.
We offer a variety of topics. Currently, we are specifically looking for a highly motivated student who wants study disease development in wild tomato plants.
Within a single plant species, we found large differences in resistance against pathogens. We want to understand how much variation there is within the species and what the molecular mechanisms are that are causing this.
In this project, we want to combine machine learning / image analysis and molecular biological methods, like qRT-PCR.
We are looking for someone who is interested in doing lab work and performing data analyses, using analytical scripts as implemented in the software PlantCV. Experience with programming is not needed. Willingness to learn the basics of Python, and possibly R for additional visualisation of the results is required.
Besides this specific project, we can also offer projects involving genomics, transcriptomics and metabolomics of the interaction between wild tomato an its pathogens.
More information about the group can be found on If you are interested or have specific questions about projects, please contact Lina Monoz (lina.munoz[at] or Dr. Remco Stam (remco.stam[at]

PhD positions at the Institute of Molecular Immunology

Two open PhD positions are available at the Institute of Molecular Immunology & Experimental Oncology, Technical University of Munich.

The institute addresses important questions about the regulation of immunity against hepatotropic infections and tumors in mice and men. Preclinical models are applied to investigate detailed mechanistic principles about anti-viral and anti-cancer immunity.

Both projects are based on the identification of a novel T cell population that has tissue-destructive function (Dudek et al. Nature 2021). The third-party funded projects (DFG and Helmholtz) will investigatevirus-specific immunity against hepatitis B Virus infection and SARS-CoV-2 infection and how tissue-destructive T cells contribute to immune surveillance or immune pathology. For further information on the research focus of the Institute of Molecular Immunology & Experimental Oncology, please visit our website:

Your profile:

  • Master ́s degree (or equivalent) in life sciences
  • Highly motivated candidates who already have a basic knowledge in cellular or molecular immunologyand are open for new technologies
  • Ability to work independently and goal-oriented
  • Experience in flow cytometry, cell culture and willingness to perform in vivo experiments area plus

We offer:

  • Modern workplace with cutting-edge technology (Spectral Flow Cytometry, Seahorse XFe96 Analyzer, Leica Confocal microscope) embedded in a stimulating scientific community at Klinikum Rechts der Isar with access to othersophisticated technologies
  • Dynamic young teams within the institute with many collaborative projects
  • Participation of the PhD candidates in structured PhD programs of TUM Graduate School and in scientific conferences

Please send your application, a statement of your research interest, CV and two persons willing to provide a reference letter to Prof. Percy Knolle percy.knolle[at]
